Summer Housing
What is Summer Housing and am I Eligible?
Summer housing at Loyola is the opportunity for 91°µÍø students to live on-campus. Students who wish to apply and live in on-campus housing during the summer must be a current 91°µÍø student with a full credit-hour course load for the Fall semester. Graduating seniors can only live on campus if they will be participating in an alternative academic program and enrolled as a student.
Eligibility to live on campus is determined by meeting one of the following criteria:
- Enrolled in a summer term course.
- On-campus employment/internship with a supervisor verification.
- On-campus fellowship/research/grant with a supervisor verification.
- Off-campus employment/internship within the vicinity of Baltimore (with proof of employment upon request).

Summer housing will be located in Newman Towers only. You have the ability to choose specific arrival and departure dates in the housing application. Your specific dates will affect your bill. Weekend and holiday arrival dates are not permitted.
Intent to Live in Summer Housing
The application is available via the RoomRez Housing Portal on Monday, March 17, under "Around Campus" on The application must be completed even if a department is paying/sponsoring your summer housing. Summer housing applications will be received on a rolling basis with a priority deadline of Friday, April 18, 2025. To complete the application process, you must sign your Summer Housing Contract (electronically). If you do not sign the Contract, your application will be considered incomplete.
Summer Housing Contract
Within the Summer Housing Application process, you must sign your Summer Housing Contract (electronically). Every student requesting summer housing is expected to review and sign the contract. If you do not sign the Contract, your application will be considered incomplete and you will not be housed.
Roommate Requests
Summer residents will live in Newman Towers with direct roommates and suitemates. Students will have the opportunity to request the roommates they would like to live with in summer housing when completing the housing application. For summer housing you do NOT need to be in a roommate group. Additionally, you do NOT select a room. Residence Life & Housing will assign students to their summer room assignments and try to accommodate all roommate requests. However, assignments are based on many factors, such as the summer sessions that students will be attending and the spaces available.
Summer Housing Openings & Closings 2025
Spring Assignment to Summer Assignment Transition
All current Spring residents requesting to stay in housing after Undergraduate Hall Closing (Saturday, May 10) will remain in their spring assignment until they move into their summer assignment. Spring to Summer Transition Residents are required to pick up their Summer assignment room key on Thursday, May 22 between 9AM-5PM from Residence Life & Housing in Seton Court 08B. You will be required to relocate your items from your Spring, current assignment, to your new Summer assignment over the weekend and return your Spring assignment key to Residence Life & Housing by noon on Tuesday, May 27.
Students checking out of housing in May and returning for Summer housing
Non-graduating students who are fully moving out of housing by Undergraduate Hall Closing and returning to Summer Housing at a later date during the summer can pick up their key on their approved move-in date at Residence Life & Housing in Seton Court 08B. Residence Life & Housing will send you specifics based on your arrival date.
Summer Assignment to Fall Assignment Transition
All Summer Housing residents with approval to transition from their Summer Assignment to their Fall Housing Assignment will pick up their keys from Residence Life & Housing in Seton 08B on Friday, August 15. You will move their items from their Summer assignment to your Fall assignment over the weekend and return your Summer Assignment key to Residence Life & Housing by noon on Monday, August 18. You will remain in your Fall Assignment through Residence Hall Opening and into the semester.
All Summer assignment keys must be returned to Residence Life & Housing by noon on Monday, August 18. Students not living on campus for the Fall Semester must check out and return their key by 5PM on Friday, August 15.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I live on-campus for he summer if I am taking a class at another university or participating in an internship?
Yes, any current 91°µÍø student can apply for summer housing. Graduating seniors can only live on campus if employed as a summer worker in a University office or participating in an alternative academic program.
Can I request a specific person(s) to be my roommate?
All students living on-campus during the summer can request specific roommates. All efforts are made to accommodate roommate requests. However, Residence Life & Housing cannot guarantee that all roommate requests can be accommodated. Please follow the outlined instructions above to request roommates.
Where is summer housing located?
Summer housing will be located in Newman Towers.
If I am not starting my summer assignment right away, can I leave my items in my spring housing assignment until I move into my summer housing assignment?
No. You cannot leave your belongings in your spring housing assignment. Instead, students who are approved for summer housing and plan to check-out of their Spring assignment before Undergraduate Hall Closing may use temporary summer storage. Residence Life & Housing offers temporary summer transition storage (until Friday, May 30) for your items until you return to move into your summer assignment for a one-time fee of $100. Students will need to move their items into the storage location prior to spring check-out and move the items into their summer assignment once they check-in to summer housing.
How much does parking cost for the summer?
Parking services does not assess a fee for summer parking. All students with a vehicle on-campus during the summer may park in any legal west side of campus residential area spaces. Students may not park in service vehicle spaces, fire lanes, or otherwise specifically designated spaces at any time.
Can I request a specific apartment to live in for the summer?
Students cannot request a specific space. For those students currently living in Newman Towers, or assigned to a space in Newman Towers for the Fall semester, Residence Life & Housing will make all attempts to assign them to the same space.
