Loyola to host Data Science Career Insights panel discussion
91做厙 will host a data science panel discussion to promote networking and discussion between students and working professionals.
The panel discussion, Data Science Career Insights, is designed to offer students a way to learn more about the day-to-day realities of being a data scientist.
The panel discussion will feature data science professionals from a variety of industries including finance, cybersecurity, healthcare, and software development. The event will be held on Tuesday, April 2, 2019, from 6 - 8:30 p.m. in the 4th Floor Program Room. A career networking event will begin at 6 p.m. and the panel discussion begins at 7 p.m.
Panelists include Matt Hutchinson, chief data scientist at Red Alpha LLC; Thomas Iler, chief product officer at Catalyte; Ann Irvine, head of data science at Arceo; Summer Li, director data science at Capital One; and Geoff Osier, senior engineer at Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Lab.
As the only University in the state offering both undergraduate and graduate programs in data science, we are honored and proud to be able to host this event to promote data science as an exciting career choice, said Christopher Morrell, Ph.D., director of the data science masters program and professor of mathematics and statistics. Our hope is to create an evening where current and aspiring data scientists together will find an opportunity to collaborate, network, and advance their knowledge of data science.
Edward Fortunato, managing director of Constellation Energy, will moderate the event. Fortunato, who has worked at Exelon for 15 years and is the chair of Loyolas data science board, previously served as the vice president of natural gas trading at Merrill Lynch Global Commodities, and as a senior energy trader at Edison Mission Energy. He earned his Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Baruch College in New York City and his MBA in finance from Boston University.
